As most of the main oil fields in China have reached the period of high water content or super-high water content in succession, in order to enhance the recovery efficiency, control the water content to stabilize the oil production, and save energy and reduce consumption in the process of oilfield development, several important measurements widely taken are as follows: plugging the high-permeability zone of the water injection well and the water exit interval of the oil well; reducing the injected water along the high-permeability zone into oil well; decreasing the water content of the produced liquid of oil well. As a significant organic plugging agent with such properties as adjustable gelation time and gel strength, good pumpability and selection, the gel plugging agents are widely used in oil or water well profile control and water plugging.

In recent years, due to years of theory research and practical experience summary of the experts and professors of China University of Petroleum, Fanghua Petrochemical Hi-tech Co. Ltd in Dongying City has developed and produced a series of profile control plugging agents for oil or water well profile control and water plugging, which is applicable to varying formation conditions (near-well-bore area, transition zone, far-well-bore area, low temperature formation, medium temperature formation, high temperature formation ).

HPAM-201 polymer is prepared by mixing a water soluble macromolecular compound which is the host agent with other assistant functional components and serves as a kind of oilfield chemical specialized for profile controlling, water plugging and oil displacing on water injection and oil production wells and. It is applicable to wells of which the formation temperature is below 100℃. HPAM-201 polymer should be prepared to homogeneous solution with proper mix ratio before using and the cross-linking agents (CL-103,CL-107,etc) with different properties should be chosen according to the formation conditions. The reaction between polymer solution with –coo－ and parts of the functional groups of the cross-linking agents forms gel used for profile control and water plugging. The formed gel can be used as profile control agent or oil displacement agent under different formation conditions. The strength and gelation time have great relationships with those factors such as polymer concentration, formation temperature, salinity of the formation and quantity of cross-linking agent whose quantity is decided according to the in-site geological conditions.
